Nature is never very far on Vancouver Island. Many hotels offer great views. But there are those that offer truly unforgettable sights of the ocean or the mountains.

Nobody would argue that one of Vancouver Island's main attractions is nature itself. There is plenty of it and very spectacular examples of mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and animals take many a visitor's breath away. Be it the ocean bordering the island in the west, be it one of the many lakes which lie interspersed across its countryside and offer the best fishing and canoeing terrain not many islands in the world can boast of or be it its animals that haven't been pestered by modern civilization so much, that they hide from human eyes. In order to view and experience all this many travelers accept exhausting hardships to reach their goal in nature.

However, on Vancouver Island, they don't have to do that: there are hotels where guests can enjoy nature from the cozy lounge of their hotel. In some even the bathtub offers spectacular views of the surrounding nature.

Rooms with a View of the Pacific Ocean

The Wickaninnish Inn near Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island is located on a rocky promontory which juts out into the Pacific Ocean. There is not much that is farther west in Canada than this place. On the other side of the sea the next country is Japan. And the sea is so close to the hotel, that the breakers sometimes reach up to the windows of the hotel's restaurant.

Some guests are said to have melted in their bathtubs with a seaview. From especially big bathtubs they can enjoy a tantalizing glimpse of the rain forest, the beach and the wide Pacific Ocean. And in winter guests can watch the mighty storms roll in from the sea through the high windows of the hotel lounge, when the thundering waves crash onto the rocks in front of the hotel.

Hotel Rooms with a Glimpse of Georgia Strait and the Coastal Mountains

The Kingfisher Inn Resort and Spa south of Courtenay lies on the opposite side of the island on the banks of the Georgia Strait. The hotel suites look out directly across the water and offer a view of the Coastal Mountains in the background that run from North to South on the mainland side of the waterway that connects Vancouver with the northern areas of the province.

Here there is hardly ever a storm to be experienced. However this is a great place to watch bald eagles that love to perch in the trees in front of the spa. And there is nothing more relaxing than watching them fly by in search of food while working out in the hotel's fitness center or having a massage on the deck watching the tide come in.

Luxury Tents on the Coast of Vancouver Island

And who wants to get even closer to nature can do so in the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort on the west side of Vancouver Island. This tent resort is located in the temperate rain forest and guests stay in luxurious tents which are decorated with wooden floors, turkish rugs, antique furniture and a gas-wood-oven in the middle of the wilderness that surrounds them.

Just by opening their tents guests get a glorious view of the rain forest and the Pacific Ocean that wait right outside the tents. Sometimes even bears and whales can be seen right from the resort.

So anybody who wants to experience nature in its spectacular beauty and doesn't want to exhaust himself by getting to it, Vancouver Island offers the perfect places for this.
